A dependable, friendly German translation specialist for market leaders, startups and more

“Lina consistently exceeds expectations”

Hi there, I’m Lina.

I specialise in helping brands tap into the huge potential of the German market through culturally sensitive translation, transcreation and editing services.

The main thing you need to know about me is that, in my book, people always come first. I go the extra mile to make all my clients feel valued and supported. In my world, the best customer service and the best translation services go hand in glove.

There’s nothing I love more than building lasting relationships with customers like you, becoming an extension of your team, getting to know the brand inside out, and watching you thrive in the German market.

Born, raised, and based in Germany, I’m endlessly intrigued by my native language, but I’ve spent plenty of time immersed in the cultures of my source languages too, with extended periods in Italy, Malta, and the Basque Country.

So I know just how to adapt a message created with an English, Spanish or Italian-speaking audience in mind so it’s perfect for a German one.

Looking for deeply human help with your German content?

German isn’t my middle name…

But it’s right there in my surname, Gertzmann. I like to think that the fact I now spend my days immersed in my mother tongue, as a German translation specialist, was somehow written in the stars.

Take a passion for languages, especially Italian. Add a love of spending time surrounded by nature and an overwhelming desire to learn about new cultures through travel.

And you get me, Lina, a German translation specialist… and so much more besides.

Sometimes, the best creative ideas come to me when I’m away from the screen, at the gym in winter, swimming in summer, or hiking in the great outdoors at any time of year.

Spending time in nature (normally with my trusty camera to hand) recharges my creative batteries. Bird song, the babble of water and a mountain view are just what the doctor ordered, and have me overflowing with ideas once I’m back at my translation station.

Keeping my skills fresh

Between 2018 and 2021, I lived and breathed the world of Anglistics and Romance Languages at the Ruhr University Bochum (Germany). But education shouldn’t stop there, should it?

I pride myself on delivering the best possible results for my clients time after time. And a big part of that hinges on keeping my skills and knowledge up to date, long after graduation.

I have the insatiable curiosity that comes hand in hand with being a good translator, and channel a lot of that into regular CPD.

Here are some of the courses I’ve recently completed, through my Translastars subscription.

SEO and SEA Translation: March 2025
Cosmetics and Beauty Translation: December 2023
Food & Beverage: Translating for the Food Industry: July 2023
Translating Tourist Texts (DE/ES): June 2023
